This was FLAG’s second visit to the Eat n Bowl in St Neots. We found a different coach firm, Chambers, so gave them a  try. Apart from the time it takes to get us all strapped in, which is always the case, the coach was great and the driver,  Phil, was excellent. The 32 FLAG members arrived at the venue, got a drink, split into five groups and played the first  game. My wheelchair packed up working for a while which is my excuse for finishing last on the first game. It may also  have been that certain of my opponents had some very lucky shots.   After working up an appetite we sat down to a basket meal. My Cheese-burger and Chips were  really tasty. It was time for the second game, came third, but no strikes. I think everyone had a  good time. Running a bit late we bundled onto the coach and headed back to  base. A big thank you to all our volunteers who  were as always a great support.
31 members attended this year’s AGM which was chaired for the first time by Laura Peggs. She began by welcoming us all to the meeting. Tracey Brightman, our Treasurer, gave a review of FLAG’s Annual Accounts. Reserves have fallen over the year by £1931 to £4143, however we are due to receive funding of £4545 from the Harpur Trust to be used over the next two years. Finances are good. Dylan, our Administrator, gave a report on last year’s events namely:  AGM 2013 - 11th April 2013,  Naidex Exhibition - 1st May 2013,  Thames River Trip - 15th July 2013,  Bingo Evening - 26th Sept 2013,  Halloween Karaoke - 31st Oct 2013,  Christmas Meal - 12th Dec 2013,  Ten Pin Bowling -13th February 2014.
After the AGM we tucked into a delicious Pizza and Salad from the Honeycrust Bakery. As usual our great gang  of volunteers were on hand to help serve the food and drinks. Our two youngest volunteers, Amy and Holly, did a  wonderful job selling raffle tickets, raising £52 towards future FLAG events, thank you everyone. And then the  highlight of the evening, so he tells me, was Dylan, who sang a few songs from his fabulous repertoire. I hope  you all enjoyed a great evening of chat, food and singing with fellow FLAG members.

As a volunteer the first trip I went to was Duxford with the other members off the group.  We went to the Duxford air show by coach. I was enabling a lady to get around the air  show, unfortunately she had to cancel so I teamed up with Simon when we arrived.  Simon and I enjoyed the day very much especially going inside Concorde and lots of  other planes, Simon was very knowledgeable about all the planes, especially the Spitfire and the Hurricane  as his father had been in the forces. My knowledge of aircraft was greatly improved that day by Simon. We  had a great spot for seeing all of he air show. What a wonderful day we all had. Looking forward to the  next trip as a volunteer.   Bernadette Frisby
20 FLAG members attended the Halloween Bingo event at the White Horse pub. We started off with two games of  Bingo, the numbers were expertly called by Becky, who filled  in for the pub landlord Nigel who was on holiday. We all then  enjoyed a meal of Sausage, Chips and Beans followed by a  delicious Chocolate Pudding. Several members entered into the spirit of the evening by  coming in Fancy Dress. Becky was our judge for the evening  and picked Alma (the Devil) as the winner with Nicola (a  Witch) in second prize. I was third (a pumpkin), although  some people thought I had just been tangoed. Other Fancy  Dressers were Laura (a Vampire),  Joy (a Ghoul), Susan (a  Witch) and Gordon (a skull designed cape).   After the raffle, as it was getting  late we just had one final game  of Bingo. I think everyone  enjoyed the evening and once  again a big thank you to the  volunteers who helped out. Tracey Brightman
On a bright and beautifully sunny morning on the  4th September, 23 very excited members of FLAG boarded the coach looking forward to a day out in  London to visit the Natural History & Science  museums. All transport arrangements went  smooth and we arrived at the Museums in good  time. After vacating the coach, members split up going  their separate ways to their preferred Museum.  Some members went to both the Science Museum and the Natural  History Museum as they were within walking distant of each other.  The highlights of the day for Kerry were going up the escalator into the  earth crust and on to the earthquake simulator, Kerry also could not stop laughing at the two  skeletons sitting at the dining table, she thought this very funny. Members had refreshments in  the Museum restaurants and cafes. Gordon and other members recommended the food. We all  then met back at  “Dippy” the Diplodocus Dinosaur skeleton and made our way back to the  coach. What a fabulous day out! Thank you to Laura Peggs for organising her first solo trip for all the members.
What a splendid Christmas Party our members enjoyed on the 10th December at the Priory Marina  Restaurant. 29 members attended the party night, and the atmosphere was great as the drink flowed and  the food was good. Everyone appeared to be in the party mood enjoying themselves. Members would like  to give a big thank you to the Committee and Linda for all the hard work they did in organising the night.
